We bike home leisurely, school's open 12-8, ideal hours for staff, a mild irritant for students. Vancouver was made for bikes. I get lost in the pedals, see the light coming not fast enough though, I'll beat her... it's an almost accident that happens at an uneventful 5km/hr.
"I would have to photograph your dead body," he says
"Only on large format," I say.
I leave later, to cross Main, my gears are wonky. Omen #2, always in threes. The boy-man on his bike turns to me, "Sometimes bikes fix themselves, sometimes... not in the rain."
We laugh and agree, not necessarily understanding each other.
My gears fix into place and we part.
Strangers are welcome.
